On March 2, 2009, Discover and The National Science Foundation sponsored a panel discussion and series of interviews (videos above) in which DISCOVER editor-in-chief Corey Powell and four leading researchers discussed the science of climate change and the world-changing effects it could bring. The participants were Robin Bell (Columbia), Ken Caldera (Stanford), Bill Easterling (Penn State), and Stephen Schneider (Stanford). The panel and interviews were held at the Exploratorium in San Francisco.

The event was part of Discover and the NSF's Grand Challenges of Science series, which also included Unlocking the Secrets and Powers of the Brain, The Mysteries of the Cosmos, Grand Challenges of Science: Robotics, and With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: The Future of Video Games.
