The sauropod Agustinia watches a hatchling emerge from the nest. Sauropods are some of the largest land animals to have ever existed. Agustinia, which appeared roughly 130 million years ago, was 45 feet long and was distinguished by dorsal armor similar to the large plates of stegosaurs but with the flat surfaces cutting across the ridge of the backbone.
