Official Contest Rules

 

1.    NO PURCHASE NECESSARY: Purchase or payment is not required to enter or win and will not improve your chances of winning.

2.    YOUR ODDS: Your odds of winning will depend on the number of qualified entries submitted.

3.    ELIGIBILITY: You must be 18 or older and a legal resident of the US in a state in which participation is permitted by law. Employees, officers, directors or representatives of CELESTRON, its affiliated companies, its advertisers, and promotion agents and their immediate families are not eligible.

4.    TIMING: Qualified entries will be accepted between 12:01 AM (PDT) on October 1, 2010 and 11:59 PM (PDT) on October 30, 2010. Winners will be drawn from eligible entries received during that time period.

5.    RULES FOR ENTRY: You must complete and submit an official entry form available online at http://www.celestronimages.com/capture-the-universe/. All information required by the official form must be completed. You must complete and submit your own form.

6.    CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: By registering, you agree:

1.    To abide by all Sweepstakes rules,
2.    To accept as final, the decisions of the judges,
3.    That you consent to have your name, likeness and photograph used by Celestron for publicity or advertising purposes without further compensation if you are declared the winner.
4.    All images must be originally captured by the contestant.
5.    No more than 5 images per contestant allowed.
6.    Images must be taken through Celestron optics

7.    PRIZES: One Grand Prize, One Runner-Up Prize and One Viewer's Choice Prize will be awarded

8.    One Grand Prize: One (1) Celestron NexStar 8SE Computerized Telescope - Retail Value $1,399

9.    One Runner-Up Prize: One (1) Celestron Axiom LX 31mm Eyepiece - Retail Value $399

10.    One Viewer's Choice: One (1) Celestron 50th Anniversary FirstScope‚ - Retail Value $50.00

11.    WINNER SELECTION: Winners will be selected by an independent judge Phil Plait, an astronomer, lecturer, author and the creator of Bad Astronomy blog and Bad Universe TV Series. All selections are final.

12.    NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS: Winners will be notified by phone, mail or email directly according to the information provided on the entry form. Winners will be required to execute and provide an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability, Publicity Release, and such other documents or verifications as may be required by law or by Celestron. In case of disqualification for any reason, alternate winners may be selected by additional drawing in accordance with Section 8 above.

13.    OTHER RESTRICTIONS: Prizes are not redeemable in cash or other products. Celestron reserves the right if necessary to substitute other comparable prizes of equal or greater value. Winners shall bear all taxes and fees incurred by accepting a prize.
