Mountain biking might stay strong despite climate change, but you can't ski or snowboard without snow. Major U.S. ski resorts like Park City, Utah, haven't yet seen significant effects. But based on the projections of climate scientists, resort owners are already fearing the worst, if much of the snow disappears.
Resort owners like John Cumming of Park City, Utah, are becoming advocates for reducing energy use, hoping to slow carbon emissions and hopefully global warming. They're also touting the fact that the mountains are a nice place to be in the summer. Pitching snow-free mountains as a tourist destination probably won't bring in the same kind of dollars as a ski resort; then again, as a Park City resort director told ABC News, "If in 2100, we can't ski, that's the least of our problems."
