Psst! This Note's for You
Broadcast from a fleet of orbiting satellites, Global Position Satellite (GPS) signals bathe the earth. These signals are detected by handheld GPS receivers. Each unit analyzes the detected signals, calculating the travel time between satellite and ground. From this data, the unit determines the distance to each satellite. These distances are triangulated and their point of overlap is identified as the receiver's ground position.
